"Cargo a go go"

Films: Dead in the Water (2018)

Alias: None

Type: Natural

Location: Ocean/Haunted Home

Height/Weight: Up to that of an average octopus.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: You know what's the best thing about body-snatching films that take place in isolated locations? It's the problem of the people there, as opposed to the rest of the world. Yes, that's a bit of a selfish statement, but I don't think mankind needs to be worrying about deep-sea worms invading their bodies, controlling their brains, and eating them from the inside.

History: A patrol crew sailing in the midst of a massive storm in the middle of the Pacific has found a derelict illegal fishing ship. But what at first appears to be business as usual is in fact something much darker. The last person there dies screaming and thrashing about while begging for death. And soon, the power goes out. As it turns out, he and his entire crew were food for an unknown species of underwater mollusk-like parasite that is eager to get their gob around the new people.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: After just about everyone is killed, the last two decide to go down with the ship when they get it blown up and take both themselves and the parasites with them.

Powers/Abilities: Can spread through human contact, and steadily grow to large sizes. Big enough to gut people with their tentacles, that is. They are also bulletproof.

Weakness: Fire and/or heavy artillery.

Scariness Factor: 3.5-The CGI doesn't quite do these tiny terrors justice, but it's a commendable effort here. These beasts make sure that the infection is painful, and even when they're too big to be parasitic, they find ways to kill people gruesomely. It doesn't help that their earlier phases teeter a line between ugly and cute. Just like many other ocean mollusks, really.

Trivia: -This film was done almost entirely in South Africa.

-Oceanic parasitic worms include flukes, roundworms, tapeworms, and long worms. All of which have undesirable effects on humans.
